Kaiser Permanente Commissioning
Kaiser Permanente was very clear from the beginning of the project: our commissioning needed to be completed prior to the facility resuming normal operation the following Monday because people’s lives depended on their medical care. The scheduled work was on a weekend which started Friday evening to Sunday night.
The project scope included commissioning for five rooftop air conditioning units. Our team was responsible for verifying installation, providing point to point testing, witnessing equipment startup, verifying balancing and functional testing for each unit.
We were able to meet Kaiser Permanente’s deadlines for two reasons. First, we were involved during the design process and developed a commissioning plan that the construction team agreed on. This plan was used to educate Kaiser Permanente about our testing process. Second, we worked very closely with the general contractor and other trades so that we could provide instant feedback during construction throughout the weekend. This enabled the team to be ready for the next phase of construction.
The installation deficiencies that were identified during our commissioning process were addressed by the contractors promptly so there weren’t any significant delays.
